Laptop Monitor Haywire

My laptop was working fine. I closed the screen on it, came back a few hours later, opened the top, and the colors on the screen are all messed up. I check display settitngs and everything was fine. I do not think anything touched while I was gone. Here are a few pictures of the weird colors taken with a digital camera.

I am guessing it is either the monitor or graphic card is shot. Any ideas which or anything else? Thanks!
 
could be a problem with the ribbon cable that connects the monitor, i had one rip onetime i got lots of pretty colors with that, except it looked more like a tv channel thats off the air, it wouldn't actually display anything
 
well cable wire r out dated now. They use fine cables passed throw the screen hinge. I think u should better visit ur system's makers...
