Laptop No Floppy

Hallo,
I have this problem and i really would like some advice.
I bought a fujitsu-siemens laptop from greece and windows xp are in greek. I tried to do a format and install the english XP but during the procedure of the format I had an error regarding the hard disk, it wasn't recognised by the system. I had to put some new drivers to the system but the only way to do this is only through a floppy drive :( my laptop does not have a floppy drive! Will a usb floppy drive work? Do you have an idea of how I can bypass this problem?? Is in not stupid that windows still need a floppy drive for some stuff??? help!!!!!!!!!

And also it is not a matter of booting, I can boot from a cd! It is a matter of installing third party drivers for the hard disk!

You mean when you reinstall the OS, it's telling you that it doesn't recognize the HD? It should, if you see it in bios, it should come up as a recognizable HD.

nope! I can not install at all the new OS, at the beginning of the procedure of installment I get a blue screen that says that a hard disk is not detected! I have witnessed again this problem and you just have to install some other drivers for the hard disk! The problem is that you can only install them through a floppy disk and my laptop does not have one, and there is no alternative way of installing it.

Can you see the HD in bios? Do you still have the original CD's that came with the laptop? if you did a full restoration to the greek OS, there may be an option for another language. Also, even if it didnt, you can try to install WinXP over it afterwards.

did it say that you have to install the driver through the floppy disk? or did it say to just install certain drivers?

can u pinpoint the hard disk error specifically? like is it a STOP error message at the blue screen. or what does it say?

Let's review the problem again, in order to find a solution:

I have a Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo M1437 laptop that came with Windows XP Home Greek Edition, preinstalled. I also have a Recovery CD for the specific model (which has no option for other language than Greek). I boot from an original Windows XP Professional CD, I bought from the store too. The computer boots from the CD properly and the WinXP Installation process continues to the point where a list of partitions/ HDDs should be displayed, except in this case, I get an error "windows installation did not detect any hrd disk drive on your system. Maybe you have to supply third party drivers". So the real problem is that I want to install a fresh copy of Windows XP to this laptop and HDD is not recognized properly. It needs third party drivers. The "drivers & utilities CD" has a SATA/RAID driver to use for installation of Windows XP, but when I press F6 (installation of third party drivers) during the initial screen of WinXP installation process, the only option to "feed" these drivers to the OS Installation program is through a floppy drive, that my PC has not! Will it work with a usb floppy drive? Will it be recognized by the installation process as being drive A: for example? For now, I get also the error: "No floppy drive has been detected on your PC" (after F6 press).

P.S. As we know OEM Operating Systems (usually preinstalled with laptops) can not be upgraded. So either I start the Installation process from in windows home Greek, or I do a boot from the CD, same error appears, if not immediatly, just a few steps beyond.

Thank you again,
Airbus is the Future.

Before trying to re-install the new OS, you did completely format the HDD, correct? I didn't read anywhere that you did, only that you tried re-installing the OS with the CD. If not properly formatted, Windows won't recognize the HDD unless you have a seperate un-claimed partition.
