laptop not picking up wireless d link

Hello! I am just wondering why my laptop does not pick up the wireless D link that i have enabled broadcasting on. I have set up according to the right SSID but it does not pick up the signal. Any ideas? I am running windows vista on my laptop,,, Thanks!
 
sometimes laptops have small function keys or switches on them that keep the internal wireless card turned off even if you have it enabled within windows, i'd check to see that that is turned on.
