Hey all,

Long story short, my HP laptop (of 3 or so years) has now bitten the dust. It's had blue screen of death a couple times, it's been running slowly for a while so i guess it just gave up. When i press the power button it make a very quiet noise, the power button lights up and the caps lock light, lights up and flashes but nothing else.

I'm looking to buy this laptop:
Lenovo G500 15.6-inch Laptop - Black (Intel Core i3-3110 2.4GHz, 6GB RAM, 1TB HDD, Intel Integrated Graphics, Bluetooth, Camera, DVDRW, Windows 8.1 Home Premium): Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories

There are a lot of things on my HP laptop that i really need to get off it. Does anyone know how i can do that?

Thanks a lot in advance.

Sam

Check the hard drive to make sure it hasn't failed on the old laptop. I worked on an HP laptop just a couple months ago and at first it was just a failing hard drive. Put a new one in and it worked for a few days. Then it just wouldn't boot up anymore. How many times does the caps lock light blink? Try removing the cmos battery. Remove power cord, remove battery, remove cmos battery (its under the cover that houses the HDD. Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds then wait 10 minutes. Reinsert cmos battery, connect battery, reconnect power cord and try booting up.
