Hello all,

I would be interested in reading your opinions on these laptops, both are the same expect a couple of things.

Laptop 1 - £649
Intel i5-450M (2.4Ghz, 4Threads, 3M cache)
640 GB HDD (5400 rpm)

Laptop 2 - £579
Intel i3-350M (2.26Ghz, 4Threads, 3M cache)
500 GB HDD (7200 rpm)

I will be using the laptop as my main computer and travel with (work and pleasure) in the following way:
Internet
MS Office
CAD, design and Analysis work
Video streaming and watching movies, youtube, etc.
Occassional gaming (mainly racing games, not really into shoot em up types)
Ocassional video and photo editing

I should also mention that the I often do multi tasking on the laptop, i.e. have an numerical analysis running along side downloading, MS office work, etc.

I would plan for the laptop to last me a long time.

Thanks

The first one is better than the second one, with a better CPU and bigger hard drive. However, I am not sure if the i5 can handle CAD and other similar programs, wait and let someone else confirm it.

The i5 should be able to handle CAD. My brother had a Gateway with a Core2Duo that he used during his engineering/CAD classes and it seemed to work, no problem. Thing just continually ate hard drives, but it was a Gateway...:gun:
