Laptop or Desktop computers..which do you recommend?

Which is better, which is worth the money..would u recommend a laptop or a desktop computer?

is it true that laptops dont last more then two years? while a desktop can last up to 10 yrs..
im a college student, looking for something to use at school mostly.
 
Well if you need something for school then a laptop is probably more ideal since you can take it to school.

What are you going to be doing with the computer?

And no, neither statement is really true.
 
At this level of discussion you're better off just going into Best Buy or something.

They fill completely different needs. Laptops not lasting 2 years is a bit of a misnomer since people traditionally abused them and mechanical hard drive failures are high, or other abuse like using it on a bed with a really fluffy comforter and blocking all of the PC's airflow. People really enjoy yanking the power cord and breaking off the DC jack as well.

If it's for class you'll at least want one to take to lectures etc. and that really isn't viable in a desktop.
