Hey guys, my Gateway NV55S has been overheating constantly as of yesterday. It seems like the fan isn't spinning faster as the CPU/GPU gets hotter, which is causing overheating issues.
The CPU/GPU works its way slowly up to 100C where the TDP is reached, and the laptop automatically shuts down to prevent damage, and as you can imagine, it's quite annoying. I'm also stay quite a way far from home so I don't have any access to my desktop.
It's been about 9 months since I got the laptop, so i'm thinking it may be a dust issue? I don't want to open the laptop up as it may cause the warranty to be voided? But if I can, I will.
All help/advice is appreciated, I tried Rivatuner and SpeedFan already to no avail.
Specs:
AMD A6-3400M (APU [GPU+CPU on the same chip])
4GB DDR3
500 GB Hard Drive
blah blah blah.
UPDATE: I've contacted gateway customer support and they insist that I proceed with a power drain which I doubt would help so i'm not even going to bother.
