Laptop Power Supply Not Working

Same kind of reason, the power supply LED turned on for a fraction of a second then just died again, and no power got to my laptop. I've tried them in different plug sockets around the house, and the plug sockets work for other appliances, so it won't be them.

are you sure the problem is not the laptop itself?

The most common power problem I come accross with laptops is the jack plug on the motherboard breaking away from the solder joint !!

It's caused by stress put onto the socket when plugged in and the lead being pulled/tripped over etc.

Have you got something else you can test the universal power supply on?

you could use a multi meter to test by putting one probe into the adapter hole and the other touching the outside edge ;)

i'm fairly sure, because it says that the red light should come on immediately, and the red light (or the green light on the old charger) does not come on. On the original the green light came on whether it was connected to the laptop or not.

have you tested the power supply then on something else ? just to rule it out ! ;)

Process of elimination is required to diagnose 99% of issues ;)

I only have one laptop, so I cannot test it out anywhere else at the moment, but I will try as soon as I can get hold of another laptop. Cheers for the advice.
