Hey everyone. I just received a hard drive in the mail and when I went to swap them out, I turned on my laptop to install windows and I get a black screen! What is the problem?:confused::confused::confused:

I also just replaced the keyboard at the same time.

Sounds like you may have forgot to hook something back up or you have a bad hard drive and its not letting the laptop bootup, it can happen.

I'd remove both hard drive and keyboard and see what happens. Maybe something's interfering with something else. If it still won't work, check around the keyboard. Maybe something got knocked loose under there when you were doing the swap?

Also, can you tell if there's any activity? Does the laptop attempt to boot? Any keyboard lights flash?

Ok, so I figured out what the problem is. I should think before making random threads.

Anyways, I took off a panel which covers the LCD cable that connects the screen to the mobo. About 2 years ago, I had a problem where the cable was cut due to opening and closing of the screen. I had it re-soldered by a friend. Everything worked fine up until now. Now every time I move the screen up or down, it turns really dark almost as if it were off. My simple solution: I ordered a new one off of eBay and I'm going to have to replace it.
