Laptop Problem

Hi. I have a hp pavillion laptop and i spilt some drink on it before and the keys stopped working. I then took out the battery and held in the power button for 60seconds and the keypad was working again, now i have the problem where only some of the keys wont work. Any ideas?

Yea, shut off your computer, take out the keys, grab some q-tips (or cotton swabs, which ever you prefer :)), and a cup of water. Tip the q-tips in the water, and clean under the keyboard. Let it dry completely before attempting to use it again, as any water that got under the keyboard may short circuit the keyboard if it is still wet. In fact that may have been the problem, you tried to use wet circuits and they short circuited, preventing some keys from working. Check it out though.

What'd you spill by the way?

No, they should be dry. The only thing I would suggest is opening up your laptop and take out the keyboard parts, clean, let dry, and put back together. Of course, that will most likely void your warranty, and if you don't know what your doing you can practicaly ruin the laptop if you dont reconstruct it correctly. Otherwise call the manufacturer up and talk to them about this problem.

laptop

took it to company and they said that if they could prove that drink was spilt on it the warranty would cover it but they are going to get me a new keyboard. whether i have to pay for it or not remains to be seen.

If they could prove that a drink was spilt on it? Just bring it to them and dump some pepsi on it and be like "There's your proof." What the hell, it would actually make more sense if they DIDNT cover it if you spilled on it (manufacturers tend to not like water damage as that destroys everything, kinda like cell phones). I know with cell phones you can get a special warranty for water damage, but with laptops, if that's what they say then awesome man. Just prove it was a spilled drink... don't clean it in that case.
