Laptop Problems

I think my laptop has overheated and i was wondering what i would need to replace if that was the case. When i switch the laptop on, the fan comes on for a second and the 'On' light stays on, but the screen does not come on at all.

Also, could i connect my laptop hard drive to a desktop computer to transfer some of the files? As I have Windows7 on it which i need to put on my destop computer.

Thanks

Down load this program HWMonitor and see what your core processors Temps really are.
There may be nothing wrong with your laptop, also check the exhaust vent make sure they are clear.

Is it possible that only the LCD on your laptop has gone out? Do any of the other lights blink, such as the HDD activity light? Does it make sounds as if it is booting up? If so, you should try to hook up an external monitor to see if it is just the LCD.

To answer your other question, yes, you can remove the HDD from your laptop and attach it to another computer to transfer the data (provided the drive isn't toast). There are different ways to do that such as an external enclosure, HDD dock or USB adapter.

Thanks for the replies. I have tried the connect it to a monitor but it still s not working. The HDD light does flash for a second the it too goes off completly. It does not sound as it is booting up as it does not beep.

As for the HDD, would a Laptop HDD Adaptor do the trick?

Thanks
