I'm pretty sure at 79oC it should shut down automatically to prevent damage, am i correct? Unless you turned that option off in the BIOS if you even can.
i have a Asus V1Jp and i am using adove after affects 7.0 and i am using the processor at 100% but when i change it and only use say for example 60% it still has the same temps and it can be running at 79c for over 5 hours at a time. any recommendations? also ive had it a year and are there anythings i can do to pyhscially clean it? remove dust etc?
SpeedFan is usually good, but I'd suggest you enter BIOS, go to the Hardware Monitor area, and view the temps there for a few minutes. Look for the same 79*C or any wide-variations.

Yes. If you feel comfortable, you can open up the chassis (it's different for each model, so try to find an online tutorial for your specific unit, or feel-it-out). With temps that hight in laptops, it's almost always fans clogged with dust - much tighter space = quicker/more dust build-up.
