Laptop Question: Gateway in particular.

How are Gateways these days? I had horrible problems with their computers (and so did a bunch of friends) about 3-4 years ago. But maybe things have changed. I need a basic laptop. Nothing fancy but not totally underpowered.

I have been doing some reasearch and this Gateway is the best all around laptop on paper I can find for the price. + I found a $50 off coupon code. Gateway NX570X for around $700

Pretty good cnet review

Hi your links dont seem to be working for me, From what i have heard gateways are good for the money.

Gateway laptops are pretty damn good these days. I went to Winona State University and the gave each full time student a laptop. It was a gateway tablet PC with a Core duo and a gig of memory. Ran fast and I could play a lot of games on it. The one in your link looks similar in SOME specs. It should run fast and be good for your purpose.

Also, Gateway was very understanding in getting my Fiance's laptop fixed. They sent a box and a prepaid label. We packed it up, put it in the drop box and it was mailed. Returned the next week. Free of charge.

I would reccommend Gateway for laptops as they have really turned things around (in my eyes)
