I was wondering if i should get 1 or 2 gigs of ram for my home laptop, it is just used for email and general office applications. It will be running windows vista and i was wondering if 2 gigs is necessary

Accordingly to MS 2GB the smallest is required to run, 4GB is better. You will see an increase in performance.

Get life time warranty when you do. In case it fails!

i don't quite understand that. are you saying MS said that Vista requires 2GB of RAM to run?
i just looked at some specs and it says 512mb or 1GB required, 2GB sounds like a ludicrous amount.
but, then again, i might be wrong there...

but anyway, 1GB should be plenty for what you wanna do, it may depend slightly on what version of Vista you will be using, but you shouldn't need to go above 2GB...

you wont need 2Gb for what you want to do in Vista....im running Vista ultimate at the moment in my desktop with just over 1Gb and runs quite fast considering my procesor.

whats your current laptop specs?,You probably would need 2 gb though if you want to game.
