Laptop Requirements

Hey I'm really new to everything about the computer world but I really want to upgrade my laptop which is a little old. I have the acer aspire 4730z. I mainly wish to upgrade it to play sims 4 (sorry I'm a geek) and I'm not sure if I should just buy a new laptop all together or create a better laptop out of this one I currently have. opinions? if I do build on the acer I need a new CPU and graphics card and I have absolutely no knowledge on which ones are good and if it would be compatible with the laptop, etc. please help
 
You can't really upgrade laptops except for ram and hdd/sdd anymore. Just figure out what specs you need and buy a new one.
 
That laptop is ancient. It has a Pentium dual-core 2GHz CPU and 2GB of RAM.

You can't upgrade the CPU or video card, and the RAM will probably max out at 4GB which is not enough for a modern day laptop.
 
New lappy, build a desktop, or buy a pre-built. Anything would be better than trying to do something with that dinosaur.

You can't upgrade laptop parts, as John and Geoff said, aside from RAM, which, due to this things age, likely wouldn't be worth the money it would cost to get fitting RAM.
 
thank you all so much, this was very helpful, I didn't know the laptop was so old , if any of y'all know a nice laptop I could buy that would run just that one game that would be great ☺
@Origin Saint I'd rather have a laptop than a desktop because I don't have enough space to set it all up :(
