Laptop sales before school starts?

My parents want to wait to get me a laptop as a graduation/bday present because they say they a lot of laptops go on sale before school starts. does anyone know if this is true? It would be a non gaming laptop....but I wanted it to at least have true life and a 9 cell battery...and usually laptops you buy in stores dont have both.
 
Yes it is true, you wil probably see companies such as Dell or Gateway have TV ads for desktop and laptops and are offering a pretty good discount. Retail stores such as Best Buy and Circuit City offer those deals as well.
 
Well, sales happen almost everyweek, if not everyday.. Sites are always trying to promote and get you to buy their item.

This just depends on if your parents have a certain particular one in mind..
