well, it all started when vista crashed, no big deal for me, vista crashes every now and then, so i just left the room. I came back later and the screen wouldn't turn on, again, this happens sometimes, so i put it to sleep and woke it back up. this always fixes the problem, but after a few hard reboots with no screen, i looked closely at the screen and noticed something.
The screen was there, but the back light wasn't. this was very confusing, i just didn't get it. Vista was working fine, but the back light looked dead. So i got a flash light, focused it in, and i got to see my screen a little better. It was like trying to read a paper in pitch black, nearly impossible. My viewing point was about the size of a quarter, and here i am trying to figure out what is going on, trying to follow my mouse with a flashlight. Just try to immagine trying to do that. So i got frustrated and came up with a new idea, i have used duel screen before, so i thought that would at least give me a temporary screen to work off of. So away i go again, with my flashlight and mouse trying to set it up, but it just didn't want to do it. I kept trying to no prevail, nothing would get the second screen to work. i know i was pressing the right butting, i did it before.
So now i'm very worried. i bring this laptop to school, and i don't want to wait a month for HP to fix it. So i called hp, and after a few minutes, i get the tech guy, and you wont believe the solution he came up with. He told me one solution for this problem is resetting the ram. So i was on the phone with him and i took the ram out, and put it back in, and to my amazement it worked. I was so happy, yet confused.
I asked many friends what they think happened , but no one i asked knew an answer. is there anyone who knows why resetting the ram would make a back light that is not turning on turn on? I want to know if i can prevent this, or at least know what actually happened. Thanks
