I have a Dell Latitude D610 and everytime I close the lid and reopen it the screen stays blank.

Check your power management settings. What OS are you running? Sounds like you have it set to sleep when lid is closed.

Using XP Pro. In the power options section for "When I close the lid of my portable computer" It's set to "Do Nothing" and that's the only option in the drop down list.
also check that the lid sensor isn't sticking. Up by the hinge is a little nub that pops up. Just push that rapidly a few times to be sure the sensor is up.
