Laptop screen white bar on left side

I opened my laptop today and there is this white bar on the left side, about two inches wide, along the whole side. Also, my laptop is making this really high-pitched sound is didn't make before that gets louder and quiter.

It was dropped or anything, its been on the desk unmoved.

It's a Toshiba Satellite M65 Intel pentium M Processor 1.73GHz 1014MB RAM Direct X 9.0c 1440 x 900 display

I can make the high-pitched sound stop when I move the monitor but when I let it go it starts again
