Hey everyone!
ok, here is what i want to do.
Me and my sister want to buy a use laptop for watching DVDs. We don't want to pay much, and we don't need something fancy.
but i don't know much about laptops. Is it much like a normal PC?

here is what i want to do.
Watch and perhaps burn DVDs.
music, photo, etc, (writting) and perhaps a few games.
but not much really.
We simply want a laptop that will let us watch movies.

So, what shoulp i be looking for?
thx in advance.

well, use, but don't give me any sites, cause i don't want to pay on american sites.
I wrongly ask my questions.....what i meant was this:
What should i be looking for, like RAMS, hd, etc. but in laptops....procesor? is it the same then PCs?
and there is no way i'm buying new, its much to expensive. i will go to a use computer store, once i know what to look for.

has a 7 inch screen, bad sound quality, and bad graphics. its very small. a laptop will do everything a DVD player can, but much better (and much more)
So, laptop it is (or notebook) What should i be looking for?

You really need to set a budget. Sure, a $400 laptop will play DVD's, but is that really what you're looking for?

How much more and what exactly are you looking to do?
For playing DVD's, you'll probably want a computer with good battery life (I assume you'll be using it as a mobile device, not just a TV connected to a DVD player for home use), a big, bright screen (15" minimum probably... widescreen would probably be nice as well). If you're not planning on storing the movies on your computer, then a large hd isn't really necessary (40 GB should be fine, depending on what else you want to do). A good graphics card is a must for watching DVD's. In terms of memory, 512 mb should suit you fine for watching movies and most other tasks (this of course depends on what else you want to do)
Post more info on your budget and intended use.

well, like i said, a used one. i heard you could get some 200$ ones.
but your description help....
not planing on storing them into my laptop..... screen too, i want at least an 15 inch.
and that makes sense, a long batterie life.
but what i wonder is what should i be looking for...intel? or do they have same processors? or anything differnet form PCs?

In terms of processors, it doesn't really matter whether you go with Intel or AMD.
If a longer battery life makes sense to you, then a bigger battery (more cells) may be a good choice.
So, so far we have: a 40 Gb hd, 512 mb memory (yes?), 'good' graphics card, 15"+ screen, large (or at least a long-life) battery, and either AMD or intel CPU (basically any). Sound good?

umm, i might get a bigger HDd..... RAM looks good, graphics yes....15 inch looks good, and i think i will go with intel for processor. Sounds ok? (intel pentium 4)
