Hey everyone, i have a Compaq NX9010 business laptop. I am planning on taking it overseas to my university which i am transferring to and i need it to be reliable.
The other day, i was using the laptop on my lap and all of a sudden the laptop turned itself off. I noticed the underside of the laptop was really hot.
I tried to turn it on again and shortly after it turned itself off again.
Now it makes bleeping noises on start up with a black screen and sometimes it doesn't start up. If i hold the on/off button to turn it of then press it to turn it on again, it usually starts up fine.
I noticed shortly after this problem that the "e" button stopped working on my keyboard (mysteriously works again now).
Could the overheating be permanently damaging my laptop?
The fan is working, but the fan sucks air from underneath and it must have been blocked by my leg or something like that.
Any suggestions?
