Laptop Suggestions for College

Ok, so I am looking to get a nice laptop for college. I am sure I will get blasted for this, but I really like the Mac Book Pro (the $2500 version). I know Apple's stuff is wayyy over priced, but I love how compact and sleek the design is. Also, it seems that the MBP is way easier to maintain and keep it running fast. I would look at some top of the line PC laptops if I could just find one that is sleek and isnt so thick! It seems like there aren't any PC's that have a design even close to as nice as the Apple's. I'm not much of a gamer, but it would be nice to have something that can run some serious games if I ever wanted to. Anyways, fill me in on some suggestions. Thanks!

Really dont have a budget, but I would probably like to stick under $2500

Would you be willing to build? It isn't to difficult, and we can help. It is a bit cheaper, and more customized to what you want.

EDIT- IDK what I was thinking... you want a laptop. Hold on and I will have a few recommendations.

EDIT2- I would look at these and narrow it down depending on your needs. Newegg is always good. Best-Selling Laptops on NewEgg.com

thanks for the fast reply...those are all relatively cheap compared to a 2500 dollar mac book pro, haha...are they just as good?

Build wise not even close. I've seen my fair share of Macbook pros in college and no other laptop I have seen even comes close to it's build quality and attention to details.

I have to disagree. I have a Dell Inspiron 6000. It is 6 years old, and has one crack. But, that is my dad's fault. It hold up sooooo well, and I couldn't imagine spending 2500 dollars, when I could spend 900 and have the same thing.

yea I know what you mean, you really can have a computer just as good for half the price (just maybe not the design of the MBP). I was told by someone though that because i will be going into mechanical engineering that a mac might be out of the question anyways, because the programs needed are all PC based...and even at that I hear the programs are 100s of dollars. Nonetheless, if I can get a MBP and it will work for school I will probably do it, unless someone convinces me otherwise.

Actually, there is this thing, I believe it is called Boot Camp. It runs on macs, and allows you to install a Windows OS (like XP or 7) onto the computer, and you basically are dual-booting.

But your dads dell does not have unibody aluminum construction, back lit keyboard (maybe it has that one..maybe), magnetic AC plug and a whole list of stuff that macbook pros have that regular laptops don't. As for the $2500 price tag it's a bit steep. Why don't you (the OP) take a look at the 13" model. Those are the most popular for college.

I would like to get the 15" model, thats the one I am looking at, 13" is a bit too small for my liking, but its a possibility
