Laptop suggestions?

I'm wanting to buy a new laptop, I want to spend uner $1200. I just need something that has a lot of storage, for pictures, music downloads etc.it's going to be used for school and personal use, I want something lightweight but other than that I'm not to picky. If anyone can give me ideas on what brands they reccomend that'd be great!
 
I have a 3 year old Sony PCG NVR23 that I like real well. I just bought a Toshiba that was originally around $900, got it for $650 on sale. Has a 120 gig sata ( serial ata ) HD. Also has Media ctr 2005. The Toshiba is really nice.
also has onboard wireless ( centrino).
 
I am typically not a Mac fan, but I would suggest getting MacBook...you can get one at around $1200.
