Laptop switches its self of after 5 mins !

Hi just woundering wether any one can help me with this porblem.
When i swicth my laptop on on it loads up i can use it for arround 5 minutes befor it switchs its self of completly
I have unplug it from the mains before i can switch it back on
The ay before i ran malware bites and deleted a few files which it picked up and said were a problem
can any one help before i go and spend money geting it fixed lol

Well my first two guesses would be either it's overheating, or something is loading within the OS that is making it crash shortly after bootup. If you turn it back on right after it crashes, does it still stay on for 5 minutes or does it shut down even earlier?

It would also help to know what make/model laptop you have.

Hi it seems to be turning its self off arround the same time each time i restart it i dont think its getting any erlier
My lap top is an acer aspire
When it crashes, evan though power cable is in it shows no lights that it is charging or pluged in
I have to unplug it from the main and put all the plug back in so i can restart it

After you unplug and plug it back in, does it then show that it's charging? What happens when you charge the battery, then try to run the laptop with only the battery?

Yes , it shows its charging then , When the battery is charged and i try to run it on the battery it does the same.
 
Go to run in the start menu and open "msconfig". From there go to the Startup tab and try disabling anything you don't need for your computer to run. If that works out then you can just use a process of trial and error to see which program is causing your computer to shut down. That's probably the first thing I'd try in your situation. Best of luck!
 
Have you tried the laptop on another OS? Perhaps a Linux LiveCD? I'm just curious if it's hardware or software related. You could download one such as Ubuntu and boot to it off the disk. If it seems to function, then you know it's unlikely it's hardware related.
