yes, two ways. a hd box. which is a box to store the hd in and you connect it to your comp via usb or a ata or w/e to ata and power so it connects like a normal 5 inch hd
 
An external enclosure is the more "correct" term. And you don't need a 'box' when connecting the drive inside your computer, simply a 44 to 40 pin IDE converter if the drive is IDE.

And typical desktop hard drives are 3.5", not 5"(technically 5.25" is the size of old hard drives and optical drives.)
