Laptop to TV Issue *Help*

Hello everyone. Today i purchased the required VGA cable from my local electronics store in order to connect my laptop to lcd tv. I connected the VGA Cable to Tv, very simple hookup, and right from the get go it worked great, exceptttt.... While connected everything works properly but i have a flash on just the Television itself, not on laptop. It flashes approx every 20-30 sec or so, no rythem, speratically. I have tried playing around with my resolution, and refresh rate, but i cant seem to figure it out, but i do not have much knowledge with displays. Any help, or tips is greatly appreciated guys and gals. Thank You.

Acer Aspire 5515
AMD Athlon Processor
2.00 GB
32 bit OS
Vista

Sharp 37" LCD Television

Your screen should be off on the laptop. Correct?
Almost make me think the laptop is lagging.
Should not be on for the laptop and tv.

It is not necessaryly so, my laptop screen does not go off when I connected to the tv via s-video output and hdmi output, haven't try with vga to tv through.

I think is the interfare with some thing in the house, like another appliance or the cable is faulty, should try another cable to rule out the cable fault,
