laptop too hot?

so i have a gateway nv53 and i sent it back to gateway because of overheating issues. They "claim" to have put a new mother board in but it still feels relatively hot. I downloaded speed fan and it only picks up 1 temp. reading. Its the core and its between 56-60 Celsius and it has a little flame next to the word core. I'm assuming that means its running hot. It cant find the fans so i cant turn those higher so I'm not sure what I should do. Is this running hot and should i send it right back to gateway and complain or is this a reasonable temp?

thanks,
Mike

the core is your cpu.
its not really that high.laptops run hotter than desktops
if you're laptop isnt automatically restarting itself or locking up then the cpu isnt overheating.
i presume it gets hotter when under load.so run heavyload and see what temp it hits when running at 100%.if it stays under 80 u can relax!!

my vaio actually hits 83 under load and its 4 yrs old so i reckon its ok.
just keep it on a hard flat surface when using it (not on a bed etc.)

well laptops generally run quite a bit hotter. I'm guessing that the flame logo is because that is a pretty high temp for desktop processors. Is the touch pad/arm rests getting hot? When my laptop was over heating, I took it completely apart and cleaned out all of the dust from the fan and heatsink. That brought down my temps considerably. I would give that a shot if you are comfortable cracking open your laptop.

+1. My laptop was almost burning my legs, because it hadn't been cleaned since it was bought, nearly 5 years ago. I cleaned it, and... WOW. it was waaaay cooler.

well i ran the test for about 2 minutes and never got hotter than 72c, so i guess its not overhearting. thanks for the help!
