LapTop Video Card - Can it be replaced???

Okay, I've been reading posts on this topic and am hoping for a definitive answer.

My Gateway laptop has an Intel 910GML video card. My son wants to play Call of Duty 2 on it. We downloaded DirectX 9.0c, but we get an error everytime we try to load the game. I realize now that we need a different video card, and a whole bunch are listed on the back of the game box. Right now we are stuck with a $50 game we cannot return!

So, once and for all, can I buy a new video card to replace the one in my laptop?????

Thanks!

Sorry - I *did* check the Forums and got the impression there was disagreement on the topic. My apologies if I misunderstood what had been posted and that in fact there was no debate.

Some "technically" can, but like yours, most are soldered onto the board. As for upgrading a video card on something with a PCI-E slot, logically one would say yes, but only with the same exact one. Due to the fact that some cards don't fit the slot, obstruction of components, and may not fit the case when put back together. So sorry, you'll have to play on a desktop or another laptop... with a stronger video card.

Not a problem, a lot of people don't know. If you can change a wireless card, HD, CD-rom, RAM on a laptop... why not the video card, right? It's a question that comes up all the time. People would think with the newer PCI-E slots, video cards are now modular, it should be user changeable now. It is, but not universal... yet.
