I have an older Toshiba Satellite \laptop. I do not have the backup disk so I loaded on an Xp system which works fine. However I am not able to connect wirelessly to my router except direct with a wire. When I go to contol panel/ /system/hardware/device manager on the laptop it shows "other devices/base system device/ ethernet controller/ mulitimedia audio controller/ pci modem/ sm bus controller / video controller(VGA) with big yellow question marks. If I right click one of these items is says drivers not installed. "put Cd rom disk in and click okay but it can't find what it needs from the cd i am using.
How do i reinstall these items? Are they the cause of my wi/fi problem or is it something else. The disk I used to reprogram the laptop was for a desktop system not a laptop. Anyone have any idea how to solve my problems?
I had to reprogram the laptop because it could not load the hive at startup and kept shutting down. I tried system restore but could not access it as no calendar came up to choose a date.
