Laptop with external mouse speed Question

Hi im new here, and have registered to ask a question that I am completely stuck on.
I have a XP SP2 Advent (PC World) laptop with a synaptics touchpad and also I have a wireless (also advent "ADE-LR1") mouse (the reciever connects with USB)
The touchpad is fine, but whenever I use the wireless mouse the speed is too fast and I have to go through control panel mouse etc to slow it down. Then when I go back to the touchpad I have to move the speed slider back up again.

Is there anyway I can set the speed for each mouse so I dont have to do this each time?
Even if it means third party software.
thank you for your time :)

Try uninstalling an extra software other than the basic drivers. The extra software is probably changing the speed that the mouse scrolls at, even though you can't manually change it.

Use the plug and play function, most new mouse has it, even my wireless mouse plug and plays (though you have to install the drivers to use all the extra button functions.
