When I turn the laptop on I get options to start the computer normally, safe mode, safe mode with networking and safe mode with command prompt. When I try and start normally, after a few seconds I get a blue screen that says Unknown hard drive error, then goes right back to the screen with the different options.. And if I try any of the safe mode options I get the blue screen with and is says there is a problem with windows. Any thoughts? I have the boot disk it came with, but will not run it.

go into bios and make the disc drive the boot device.(u get into bios by pressing a key at the splash screen when u power on)which button varies by manufacturer.
boot with the windows disc and choose "repair windows".
it might b wise to backup any data u need first, this means taking out the drive and connecting it to another machine with an external enclosure
