Laptop Wont Boot

Hi Guys,
I have a slight problem with my laptop. It wont boot into windows XP Home edition...
It is an older yet still functioning Compaq EVO N600C notebook with the following specs...
1.6 GHz PIII
256 MB RAM
LOCKED OUT BIOS (This was discarded from a buisness and the bios is locked out)
The compaq screen shows up and that is all that it does it doesnt even go to the windows XP boot screen!
Please no rude comments about my computer this is all that i can afford right now.
Any help would be greatly appriciated! :D
 
Remove the hard drive to see if it finishes the boot process. You may also want to remove and reinsert the memory. Usually this means there is a hardware issue somewhere. You will have to diagnose what it could be.
 
Since removing the battery does it finish booting? If not, then it sounds like you have hardware damage somewhere as I said before.
