so i have this hp laptop
and all of a sudden it just ceased to connect wirelessly, just wont work

however, the weird thing is that it shows it as connected(54.MPS or whatever, full signal strength) and yet its not connected at all.
-i tried repairing network
-resetting router
-changing wireless router settings
-called HP, cant help me cause i uninstalled crappy vista and put xp back on it
-Called Trendnet, says its the computers problem
-hardwired internet to it using ethernet, nothing

so only obvious choice is the networking card has bit the dust
any definitive way to tell or any other suggestions?

did you install the drivers after you installed XP instead of vista? there should be a CD or DVD that came with your computer labeled DRIVERS, install that CD or DVD and tell us how it went, if you have already done this try buying a new network adapter

If you hard-wired it and it still won't work, you have some other problems. The wireless and wired network cards are independent. Was this problem before you loaded XP back on it? Have you confirmed all your drivers are loaded? Have you confirmed you can communicate on your network (access/ping your router)
