i know i've been wholly undecided on laptops... but i found this ACER on newegg.com and i really want it... 2.0GHz Core Duo, 2GB DDR2, 120GB HDD, and Radeon X1400... and for an added plus i think it's bitchin' looking...

any thoughts on acer reliability or performance??? the reviews sound like it's the way to go... this or dell's E1505?

i work for an acer repair centre so i only see the bad end of things lol... however i have to say that less than 1% of their notebooks actually develope a fault through failure; the rest are due to mistreatment and misuse.
generaly its advisable to be careful with power adaptor because the power socket tends to get snapped and you get a piece of metal rattling around inside the system causing all sorts of problems... it also means you have to get the mainboard changed.
I've been very impressed with the core duo systems personally, very responsive. however, as with all modern notebooks it chucks out a lot of heat but they deal with the heat well. also no putting it on your lap or on soft/fluffy surfaces

that laptop will smash most laptops out there and a lot of desktops. not too bad for the price. and yep i would trust acer
