Laptop's charger doesn't work properly

When I plugged the charger last night the laptop wouldn't charge. Today I tried to wiggle the power cord and it charges the laptop if it's placed in a certain position. So I think the problem is in the power cord.

I bought the laptop 3 months ago (Acer Gateway) so I wonder if it's normal for the charger to have problems like this. The warranty is 1 year.
Is the charger included in the warranty? (Mostly the power cord).

Just buy a new charger.
What model is the PC? (If you have the original OS installed on it, you can use the link in my sig to get it up).

That way, I can help you find a replacement.

the model is acer gateway NV76R.

Why should I waste money and buy a new charger if it's within the warranty?
I can have it replace, right?

Since you said you need to wiggle your power adapter, it sounds like your DC jack in the laptop is broken.

The charger is made of the power brick and the wire which goes into the adapter. The reason why I don't think it's the DC jack is because when I wiggle it, the charging doesn't stop.
But only when I wiggle the wire the charging stops or resumes, depending on the position.

But supposing the DC jack is broken, does it mean I have to pay for it if it's within the warranty?

Warranties cover defects in the product itself. A broken DC jack isn't a defect (unless you could prove it came from the factory that way) so I doubt it would be covered.

If it's a loose connection within the wires of the power adapter, you may be able to get that replaced under warranty but you'll need to contact Acer to find out if they will cover it. They may ask that you send the defective power adapter back to them so that they can verify what the problem is before they send you a new one. That means you could be without your power adapter during that time. If you don't want to be without your laptop during that time, then buy a new power adapter and send the old one back to Acer to be replaced. You'll end up with a spare adapter but you will be able to continue to use your laptop.
