Laptops for photoshop with a budget!

Hello all,

I’m looking for a laptop with preferably a 17inch screen for general home use but also for editing DSLR photos on photoshop. I’ve been told its best to find a laptop with dedicated graphics.

Does any one know how well the Intel® Core™2 Duo Mobile Processor T6600 compares to the i3 or AMD and how does the intel HD graphics compare up to the dedicated ATI ones?

I’m looking at around 500-600 price mark and have seen a TOSHIBA Satellite L670-102 for £599.
I realise this sort of thing probably gets asked all the time but your thoughts would be much appreciated.
Cheers

core i3 is fastest.
Check out yourself at cpubenchmark.net

That Toshiba is alright, but with a low end delicated video card (but it is still faster than onboard)

If you OK with 15.6, These with HD5650 are best.
Get this Toshiba and add another 2GB RAM would provide good value.

Or this Acer.

While for 17", here are some alternative with HD5470, slightly better than 5145

Cheers, advice taken on board. I had an acer once and wasn't very impressed with the build quality how do the new ones hold up compared to other brands?

I've found a refurbished HP Pavilion with i5 and a Nvidia GeForce G 105M graphics card for a lsimilar price, any one got any thoughts on refurbished laptops?

And finally! Any one know how the card compares up with ATI radeon 5470 is it worth it?

5470 a lot better than G105M.
You can check it on videobenchmark.net or notebookcheck.net

While for reliability, toshiba/Sony generally would be better than Acer. It always depends on your luck. However, Acer usually provide good value for money.
