Large scale find and replace in word

I have a word document with several mail merged letters in it (500+ all with the same letter content) one page after another and I need to replace the letter content in all of them but leave the address details as they are. I can't use the find and replace as it only does small amounts of text. The address details were originally mail merged into the document but I no longer have the data source so I can't just make a new letter and it would take forever to change it manually.

Does anyone know of a large scale find and replace option or another way I can handle this?

TIA.

Well, someone will probably come on here soon and present you with the solution, but I went ahead and wrote a program for it anyway. It's called Mass Find & Replace. It's not particularly awesome (it doesn't maintain formatting) but it does what you describe. Select the files to search, put in the text to search for and the text to replace it with. Press go and ShabaM! Enjoy.

Anyway, download it from this page. The link is down the bottom.

Thanks for this, much appreciated. It won't run on the terminal im on at the moment, I'll try on another machine later. Cheers.
