Last 5 months of my emails disappeared!!!

I need help- my emails from August 2006 until present just dissapeared from Outlook. Everything before that is still there completely (emails from 2005 and 2006) and I have apparently no trouble receiving new emails. I did not delete them, what happened to them?? Any ideas???? They are only missing from the inbox, my sent folder still has emails from taht time frame.?
I did just with help from this forum de-bug my comp BUT the emails were gone before that, in fact that's why I took action as I thought it was virus related or something.

Please help, I need those emails back!!!!
 
If i had to guess i'd say for some reason Outlook archived them. I've had it do that to me in the calendar before, it'll pop up ask if i want to archive old items, not know what the heck it was talking about i said yes and suddenly a bunch of my old appointments disappeard. Then again i don't know if this also applies to email but it seems like a logical guess to me. Check under options and see if you have auto archive enabled.
 
I looked and no, that is not the case. And why would it not erase emails from before August. Only a certain timeframe from the middle is gone as if someone went into my account and erased them out.
Is there no way to find them again??? Anyone???
 
I remember it showed me often the error on page message when logging into my email account, but I think now that had to do with all the malware on my pc?
