Ok ive found this computer on pcoption. It costs £550 altogether and i was wondering if it will be good for gaming. I will be playing some of the new games like et quake wars but some of the older games to like medieval 2 and sims 2. Will this system be able to play them on medium or high ?

Gamers Base Unit
AMD AM2 Dual Core 64 X2 5600
No PSU Upgrade Standard 750 Watt
Nvidia GForce EN8800GT 512MB Graphics

Xp Home With SP2 & Disc
Sony 18 X DVD Dual Layer Writer
Msi K9N Neo-F V2 Motherboard

Yes, that will be a very good gamer. It's not high end, but should play the newer games very well. It should play them at least at medium settings if not higher.

Between the two choices, I would say XP Home.

Or if you rather go for Vista then get Home Premium. Home Basic is just that... basic...
It doesn't have aero on it.

If Vista is 64bit, go with that. XP home... I'd go with Professional though. Vista for me. I think the SP came out right?

The system is pretty good. Consider upgrading the PSU though, probably extremely low wattage and amperage.

It should run Crysis very well. If you want to play it with all the DX10 options, then you will need to use Vista as your OS. But even with XP it would look very good on DX9c.

But, unless you have a 8800ultra card, you will not be able to play it at it's highest settings. Crysis is one of those games that needs the best hardware out to play at the highest settings.

The recommended settings are as follows
OS - Windows XP / Vista
Processor - Intel Core 2 DUO @ 2.2GHz or AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+
Memory - 2.0 GB RAM
GPU - NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS/640 or similar

But thats for playing at High settings, the very high settings will need that Ultra card.

Whats your budget? What brand is the PSU, RAM, and Case?

I would suggest Vista Home Premium 64-bit, its 112$ oem from newegg, and it's more future proof. However, you will probably want to get 2 more gigs of RAM, becuase Vista uses a lot.
