:cool:This PC is going to be MAINLY used for gaming. I.E. HL2 Engine games CSS/HL2DM. Some things I want to know are
1) Are all these parts compatible?
2) Will these parts last me a couple years?
3) Are these parts good for the price and is there anything that I need to fix/change? (I.E. PSU;Note - I'm on a budget)

dude why are you getting the really expensive hard drive?? save some money get more more space and improve your cpu and mobo, that's so much more important. Also switch up that ram, its not a very good brand and get some (2x512MB) of OCZ PC-6400 Platinum

Okay then I'll go 250GB WD 3.0Gb/s
And I like my mobo/cpu it seems really good for the price... What else should I change/upgrade?

Alright so your hard drive and you cpu and mobo cost 344.55 alright?? I would instead go with the AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+, the Asus M2N-E, and the Western Digital SE16 which comes with 16MB of cache and SATA II, it's called um WD2500KS and that together is 312.98 after the mail in rebate on the hard drive so add shipping and it's roughly the same price and you get a better cpu and mobo.

The current cpu is like 3.0 gh'z and that one is like 2.2 r u sure it's better? I may be retarded but idk correct me if im wrong

also my video card is agp 8x which is why I was leaning towards the other mobo, unless this one has an agp 8x slot?

Your not retarded but just not informed. A cpu "ghz" does is not the most important factor in a cpu. The x2 3800 will far outperform the pd805.

Yeah the pentium D processor line was pretty much a jokein the world of dual core processing, intel basically just slapped two processors together on one die to make their pentium d line. However with the X2 line AMD build the multi-core architecture from the ground up. But recently Intel has followed this idea but made it one better with the shared cache among other things.

Alright, will the Case and PSU I selected work with the AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ Dual-Core 512K Per Core 90nm (Socket AM2) (Retail Box-w-Fan) CPU and Asus M2N-E Deluxe nForce 570 Audio/GB-LAN/PCI-E/SATA3G/DDR2/ATX 64 (Socket AM2) Motherboard?

Also, I'm going to have to buy a new Video Card, will I need bigger than a 500W PSU?

yeah those will all work together

500W PSU should be fine unless you are gonna get SLI 7900GTX or higher, which you arent.

and youll need a PCI-E x16 GPU. prob around like a 7600 GT or something

Alright, and I'm looking to get 2x512MB Sticks of ram but my friend who is a Manager at GeekSquad said that Motherboards with DIMM ram require you to fill in all slots is he right or did I misunderstand what he said?

he wrong

you dont have to fill them all in but if you get two sticks it better if your motherboard can be in dual channel making use of the RAM better

Don't listen to them. That HDD is kickass. I have one in my main rig. It's tough, it's reliable and it's fast as hell. It'll leave any Caviar SE in the dust (if the Caviar even gives you more than two months of service.. lol) If you're going to get any WD HDD, that's the one to get. That or the Caviar RE.

I DO agree with the recommendation on the RAM. Samsung makes OK RAM, but it really isn't the performance leader by any stretch of the imagination. OCZ makes excellent products and they have fantastic service.

I've always liked Antec cases, so good choice there.

I love Asus mobos, so good choice there too, although the last few years have seen a jump in reliability problems for some reason.. Still, they simply spank MSI and Abit, so still a good choice.

I don't like that CPU though. 533 MHz FSBs are for the birds. That's like putting a 4.6L Northstar engine into a Ford Escort. Look for something with 800MHz FSB, or you will find performance issues. Intel makes great CPUs, but those 533MHz jobs aren't one of them..

Dude do you not realize the fact that he is under a budget?? I'm trying to get the better overall performance with the same money dude. So that's great you can suggest that stuff but of course it'll cost a ton more money.
