LCD Monitor as TV?

Im about to have a 22" LCD monitor freed up and we have an old crt tv in our bedroom right now that I would like to swap it for. Does anyone know what I need to get to hook it up? Im not worried about sound ive already solved that, but for the video our directv box has RCA out and I would need to convert that to either DVI or VGA but would that mess up the signal any or would that work at all?

You can't connect RCA directly to VGA with just an adapter or cable, it has to pass through a device that will actually convert the signal. You would be looking for something along the lines of this:
