LCD monitor for a gaming desktop

I'm looking for an LCD monitor for a gaming desktop. I'm wondering what size monitors and what screen resolutions are good for playing full-screen games? Suggestions on specific monitors would also be appreciated. My budget is < $2,500 but I am willing to go (much) over if you find a high-quality LCD monitor.

I have that same monitor but the 22" version and I love it. I dont find myself using the rotation of the stand as much as I thought I would. But, other than that it's been great to me. Wow $380 + shipping? I would keep looking b/c that way too expensive. I paid $190shipped for my 22"
 
well the jump from 21 and up is extreme... even from 24-25 is like 100 dollars... trust me past 21 inchs the monitor prices sky rocket so its a reasonable price for the size, its actually a good deal just dont buy from newegg. find it somewhere else although i love newegg :/ i buy everything there...

The best I can figure is that manufactures are trying to make them a standard so they price them low and competetive. Anyways the monitor I posted is Superb to the one the OP posted or the one I have. The one I posted will be my next purchase
