LCD not showing picture? HELP

my LCD monitor wont show any picture after sitting for awhile. i left my computer on yesturday and turned off my monitor...today i come back and turn the monitor on but the power led blinks and the monitor wont show any picture. if i restart the comp it works fine....what could be the problem?!?!? monitor, video card????HELP PLEASE

Maybe the monitor is going in sleep mode

So it never shows a picture? No POST? Can you tell the computer gets to windows or even POSTs? (as in beeps or windows sounds, HD activity...)

Is it a Dell monitor? I have one that did the same thing. To fix it I had to replace the inverter board, which happens to cost about $50.

the computer works fine i can hear the hdd working, but for some reason the monitor stays black, unless physically turn off the comp, then turn it back on.

If you're sure the computer still works, I'd try another monitor. Regardless of the bran as mentioned above, inverters and other portions of LCDs can die.

Try another monitor on the system... That would be my guess. It still could be the GPU or something, but less likely than it being the monitor I'd suspect.

Check RAM then, or looose video card/cables

thhis happens alot with the moniters i have had! i think it go's into standby mode to prevent any pixle damage.. i cant remember how i fixed it i had to restart mine too but have a look in the user manual or contact the support centre. after u restart ur computer does it stay on for the time ur using it?
