LCD screen won't shut off

Hi everyone, I have a question that hopefully has an easy answer.

I recently acquired a used DELL E172FPb at a reasonable price (free) that seemed to have an issue with the power inverter. When turning the screen on it would display an image for a second or two and then shut off. After doing research on several sites on the web I came not only to the conclusion that the monitor I got is a less than desirable model (oh well) but it's a common issue with this screen and the power inverter is the culprit.

I ordered a power inverter from lcdrepair.us and installed it in the screen. At first glance the screen seemed ok, except for when I tried to turn it off - it wouldn't! The screen works great when it's plugged into the desktop or laptop but when I try to power it down the screen goes bright white. If I unplug the screen from the computer the screen goes into self-test mode, but as soon as it's plugged into a computer it goes white.

I completely reversed my problem, first it wouldn't turn on, now it won't turn off. Does anyone have any insight as to what the issue may be? If this was posted in the wrong topic I apologize. Thanks in advance for any help
