Which would be better?

Altec Lansing AVS300

Sooo are you comparing your LCD speakers to 2.1 speakers? If so, what do you think ;) Hmmm..little crappy tiny speakers on screen, or big 3 piece speakers with subwoofer...hmm... :D

well I think I'll give my 19" widescreen w/ speakers to my mom, and she'll give me her Westinghouse 19" widescreen with no speakers :D I dont like to waste. She needs sound, I dont need crappy speakeres... all she does it read a few movies and word :D

Yeah that makes sense. When i built a computer for my dad I got him a monitor with speakers. It works great for his purpose (general office computer). My monitor also has speakers but I never bothered to connect them.

Dude, don't even consider LCD speakers. Not unless they are some rather high-end ones like some of the larger screens have. I once had them wired up has my center channel, but their horrible range threw everything else off and it sounded much better without them.

Now some are decent. I have heard some that had a very nice, full range. Others had great treble, if you have another set of speakers going or whatever. But most are simply an 'added bonus' that's not even worth mentioning :P it's more of a selling point than a real feature. Sort of like a 7300 with 512MB ram ;)

Yeah my westinghouse lcd has built in speakers and I tried them out and they sucked they didnt go very loud and I couldnt understand some words from them. But your right it is a selling point.

... well I'm using the speakers I have, are they good by the way? How do they stand up against the X-230s? I LOVE them... (maybe because that was the only pair of speakers I had?)
