LCD TV as monitor

I was just wondering if a 32" 720p LCD TV would make a decent monitor or not really since its such low resolution? I know 1080p would be better but we have a 720p in the house.

It really depends on the TV. My little 19" LCD TV makes a pretty poor monitor. It's native resolution's 1440x900, but nothing will work at this res on this TV :P So I have to run at other resolutions that cause the picture to be blurry.

Then, in the case of my dad's, you can run at the correct resolution, but it overscans (the edges hang off). It's not completely unusable, but can be a bit annoying when you can't see the taskbar. This seems to be the case with many LCD TVs...

1080 is really only noticeable when the screens are large, like 40+. at least i don't see any real difference that would make me want to buy a 1080 at that size. like the_other_one said, it depends on the tv. and the rest of the specs like refresh rate and response time.

OMG text is AWFUL on anything less than VGA, even VGA isn't cool at 720p. The overscan can be dealt with on nVidia cards with a TV setting in the drivers. I don't know about ATI as my HDMI linked ATI doesn't overscan.

im using a 26" 720p lcd tv at 1366x768 resolution. looks pretty good actually. running it off the dvi on my laptop bc i broke the darn screen! ive also done it with our 42" 1080 tv in the living room. both work fine and look good. nvidia graphics card
