I'm still unsure which desktop to go with ... and monitor for that matter.

I think that a good monitor would be important for me, as this is what I'll be staring into. I'm already spoiled with a 50" plasma so a tiny LCD just wont do. The size I can figure out on my own, but what about these widescreen models?

What are some pros/cons for widescreens and non-widescreens?

Does a 19" WS provide more viewing area than a 19" non-WS?

Is viewsonic pretty much the best?

What sort of stats do I look for when shopping for a new LCD?

Is there a difference between an LCD and a TFT?

Is this a good monitor? VIEWSONIC VA1912WB

0. widescreen is more approatie to the aspect ratio of DVDs so there is less black bar on top and bottom, thus the picture is larger, but most games and stuff are made around normal aspect ratio and not all support widescreen mode. and on widescreen the height pixels is less than a normal display.

1. widescreen will show wider things in games and movies, if those come in the respectable widescreen format

2.there are others that are better than viewsonic

3.you want to find a low repsonse time, preferably under 8ms(the lower the better), and you want a nice contrast like 700:1 or higher, and a nice brightness like 300cd

4. i dont know

5. we cant tell you anything about the monitor from the pic
