Leasing a HP computer

Hi, I am new to the whole credit world and am in need of a computer. I tried to lease a computer from dell, and was turned down instantly. Later, I decided to apply at HP. Where instead of being turned down, they told me to call a number. I did. The guy told me that i would receive a letter within a week, and if I replied, it is likely that I could lease.

So my question... me not being very patient... is has anyone ever managed to lease an HP comp, with no credit? lol. any info on your experience is welcome :)

Noooooo dont lease !!!! BUILD... You could probably make an Quad system if you rented one of there computers for an year!

If I were you, I'd save up $200-$300 and pick up a barebones computer, downloaded a Linux distro and keep saving until you can buy the necessary parts to complete your PC.

Leasing a computer is horrible, you'll most certainly get stuck with a repair bill in the end to recondition the PC to factory spec.

Unless you're talking about financing a PC, which would be better.. then you own the PC.. and I'd say no, they won't give you the PC without very good credit.

You again, lol :rolleyes::D

you need good credit to be offered a hp card so... get someone to do it and pay them back or just buy a cheap 300 dollar hp in stores.

$200-$300 and pick up a barebones comp? Where is a good place to get one? I was thinking of building my own comp, but it almost seemed more expensive compared to the 1000 dollar comp i selected from hp, with 400 bucks off.

OS options;

linux distro: free
XP Home OEM: $90
Vista Home Basic OEM (System Builders Version): $95
XP Media Center Edition OEM: $110
Vista Home Premium OEM (System Builders Version): $112

That'll get you started, and it's a decent setup for the $

I have one thing to say to you, never ever lease anything! You will get ripped off in the end! No matter if it's a car or a computer, you are always better off buying than leasing. If you can't afford it, then you don't need it.

The best way to start your credit history is go to a bank and get a secured credit card with a $500 limit, max it out and then pay it off. Do NOT ever be late on a payment! NEVER! And in a year or so you will be getting offers for unsecured credit cards with a decent interest rate. Never settle for a card with over 6.6% interest.

No, the best way to get credit is to take out a $100 loan and pay it off within 30 days.. do that a few times over a 6 month period and you'll have good credit built up by the next calender year.

I say $100 because the banks around here don't report good credit for less, only bad if you don't pay.
