leave program running

My kids say that it does not hurt anything to leave a program
or game running indefinitely. They will go away for hours with
8 gigs on hard drive of sims 2 running. I have hunted for something
to show that leaving the computer waiting indefinitely for the next
action is not a good thing. Am I an old idiot or do I have a valid concern?

Huh? What you mean...You meaning leave PC on for long period with a program running...?
 
You can also leave your computer on 5-6x / week 24hours/day and you will not use that much electricity. It also will keep your computer lasting longer.
