Lenovo T60 questions/problems

Hi I have a Lenovo T60 which I just received a couple of days ago and I have been having this problem. If I leave it on for more that 12 hours with my screen saver the screen goes black and in the top left hand corner there is my task bar flashing on and off. Then if I click on any button to type in my password the screen turns white and I can't see anything. The only thing I see is OK which is for me to type in my password. Then if I type in the password and click enter my computer is completely distorted like I can't click on anything, my start menu goes up, down and to the side. I try doing CTRL+ATL+DEL nothing comes up. The only way I can get it to go away is to pull out the power cable and take out the battery. Then put everything back in and turn it on. Then it is back to normal but I have to do this all the time which I don't want to do. What can be causing this and how can I fix it?

Another thing is this computer come with 1400 by 1050 screen resolution and I find the font VERY small and it hurts my eyes. If I lower the resolution to like 1024 by 768 it becomes all blurry and hurts my eyes. What can I do to change the fond to make it bigger like this my eyes don't hurt anymore?

Im not sure about the first issue, but to get the font size bigger;
Right click the desktop and select "properties".
Go to the "Settings" tab
Below the color quality setting go to "Advanced"
From there In the "General" tab increase the "DPI Setting to 120, or a custom setting until the screen is at an easy to read setting.
